Historic Lancaster bomber will be taken apart piece by piece and painstakingly restored in a £3.5million project to get it flying again by 2020. For the last three years of World War Two the Avro Lancaster was the major heavy bomber used by Bomber Command to take the war to the heart-land of Nazi Germany. Production during the War totalled 8,970 and continued. The Avro 504 was a World War I biplane aircraft made by the Avro aircraft company and under licence by others.
